DESCRIPTION
Toulouse transit network combines a modern driverless metro system with a modern LRT/tram system.
The original tram network opened in 1862 (initial horse tram); electrification took place in 1903. This first tram system was closed in 1957.
The first line (T1) of a modern tram system opened on December 2010, running runs north-south from Garossos to Arenes; T1 was extended in southern direction on December 2013 (Arenes-Palais de Justice).
A western branch from Ancely to Blagnac Airport opened on April 2015; it's currenty operated as line T2 (Blagnac Airport-Palais de Justice), sharing part of the track (Ancely-Palais de Justice section) with tram T1.
The tram network interchanges with the driverless metro system at Arenes (metro Line A) and Palais de Justice (metro Line B); it serves important urban polarities such as Cepiere (close to Zenith theatre), Cartoucheire, Purpan (close to an important hospital), Blagnac (historical centre), Ritouret, Grand-Noble (close to Odyssud cultural center), Andromede, Arenes (railway station) and Blagnac Airport.
