DESCRIPTION Ploiesti is an important oil and petroleum industry center; its local economy has been relaunched starting from the end of years '80s by the development of new sectors (like the texile) and by massive investments of foreign industrial groups (i.e. Lukoil).
Ploiesti tram system opened in 1987. It's articulated in 2 routes which share a common northern section from Spitalul Judetean to Restaurant Nord; at Restaurant Nord it branches south (up to Gara de Sud) and south-west (at Gara de Vest). Tram interchanges with the railways network at both its southern terminals (Gara de Sud, Gara de Vest).
