The first modern tram line (T1) opened on July 2006 (Dutemple-Universitè) and it was extended on September 2007 (Dutemple-Espace Villars). T1 connects Espace Villars (west) with the university (east), passing through the city centre; it serves the railway station and the town hall (Hotel de Ville).
The second modern tram line (T2) opened on February 2014, running from Le Vieux-Condè Le Boulon (north) to Universitè (south); T1 and T2 share a common track section (Pont Jacob-Universitè).
