DESCRIPTION
The original Bordeax tram network opened in 1880 (initial horse tram); electrification took place in 1880. Tram service was finally closed in 1958.
The first phase of the modern Bordeaux Tram opened in 2003-2004, reaching the current asset after the second phase completion (2006-2008) and further extensions (2014, 2015, 2016). The 3 radial lines (Line A, Line B, Line C) serve the main urban areas (Quais de Garonne, Pey-Berland, Pont de Pierre, Quinconces, Gare St-Jean, Cenon, Lormont, Talence, University) and converge on the city center; in the historical zones the tramcars are feeded by a modern third rail system integrated in the tracks, without any overhead wire.
