DESCRIPTION Trondheim tram opened in 1893 (initial horse tram); electrification took place in 1901. The netwok was extended in 1913, 1923-1928, 1933, 1946-1949, 1953 and 1957; it reached its maximum extension during 1958-1968 (4 lines). Important routes/lines closures occurred in 1968 (Singsaker line closure; Sondre Gate-Trondheim Central Station branch closure) and 1983 (Elgeseter line closure), before the final closure of the entire tram network (1988) except for Lian-Lade line.
