DESCRIPTION
Messina first electric tram opened in 1917; the original tram network was closed in 1951.
Tram was restored 52 years after the complete closure of the former network; a modern LRT/tram line opened on April 2003. Its track follows a north-south route from Annunziata to Gazzi (formerly operated by an ordinary bus service), serving some of the main urban polarities (Policlinico, regional industrial district, southern bus terminal, cemetery, S. Martino, Piazza Cairoli).
