DESCRIPTION The original Palermo tram network opened in 1896 (initial horse tram); electrification was completed in 1912. After the second world war tram was finally closed (1947).
A new tram system opened at the end of 2015; it consists in the following lines: Line 1 (Roccella-Stazione Centrale), Line 2 (Borgo Nuovo-Stazione Notarbartolo), Line 3 (CEP-Stazione Notarbartolo), Line 4 (Corso Calatafimi-Stazione Notarbartolo). Tram interchanges with local railways at Notabartolo and Roccella-Acqua dei Corsari stops; Notarbatolo terminal (tram Lines 2,3,4) and Stazione Centrale Terminal (tram Line 1) are connected by a bus service.
