DESCRIPTION
Le Mans original tram line opened in 1897; this initial metric gauge tram closed in 1947.
The first sections of the modern tram network opened in 2007 (Universitè-Antares; Saint Martin-Espal); it was extended in 2014 (Prefecture-Bellevue Hauts de Coulaines). The current tram network is articulated in 2 lines (T1, T2) which share a common central section (Prefecture-Saint Martin).
T1 runs from Universitè (north-west) to Antares (south); it serves the city centre and the railway station, besides other crucial urban polarities (such as the university, and the hospital).
T2 runs from Belleuve-Hauts de Coulaines (north) to Espal-Arche de la Nature (east); its track joins popular residential suburbs and many public structures.
