DESCRIPTION The original Bergen tram network opened in 1897; it was closed in 1965. In 1993 a short section of the former tram alignment (whose tracks are still partly visible along some streets) re-opened as an heritage tram, running inside Bergen Technical Museum.
The first phase (Byparken/city center-Nesttun) of a modern LRT system opened in 2010, followed by Nesttun-Lagunen extension (2013), Lagunen-Birkelandsskiftet extension (2016) and Birkelandsskiftet-Bergen lufthavn Flesland extension (2017).
