DESCRIPTION
The first section of the Turin driverless metro opened in 2006 (Fermi-XVIII Dicembre, connecting Collegno to the city centre), just before the beginning of 2006 Olympics Winter Games. A further section (XVIII Dicembre-Porta Nuova) opened in 2007; the intermediate stop of Porta Susa has been activated on September 2011, while a southern extension from Porta Nuova to Lingotto opened on March 2011.
This driverless metro system interchanges both with high speed trains (at Porta Susa stop) and both with regional railways (at Lingotto and Porta Nuova). Some relevant parking areas are located close to Fermi, Marche, Rivoli and Lingotto stops.
