DESCRIPTION
Kryvy Rih electric tram opened in 1935 and from that date it has been continuously in service.
As well as what it happened in Volgograd, during years '70s a new LRT/fast tram line (Kryvy Rih Metrotram) was planned with the aim to develope an efficient rapid urban mass transport system responding better than traditional trams to the needs of rapid desplacements. Kryvy Rih Metrotram can be classified as a sort of premetro system, with a tram-type rolling stock running along a totally segregated track (with underground sections getting under the central areas).
Metrotram opened in 1986 (Maidan Pratsi-Dzerzhinska) and it was extended in 1989 (Dzerzhinska-Kiltseva), 1999 (Zhovtneva-Zarichna) and 2012 (Kiltseva-Kiltse KMK).
Kryvy Rih transit network currently includes 13 tram lines and 3 Metrotram (fast tram) routes.
