DESCRIPTION Rennes driverless metro line (Line A) opened on March 2002 along a radial north/weststern-south/eastern route from J.F. Kennedy to La Poterie. Its track is mostly underground, except for two short viaduct sections approaching La Poterie eastern terminal and Pontchaillou intermediate stop.
Line A runs underground (superficial gallery) from J.F.Kennedy (north-western terminal) to Villejean, then it procedes on viaduct up to Pontchaillou, where it starts a deep tunnel below the historical city centre. The deep tunnel continues up to Clemenceau (underpassing some typical wooden old buildings), where it begins a superficial gallery up to Le Blosne; then, it finally reaches (on viaduct) La Poterie south-eastern terminal.
Line A serves the railway station (Gares); it also interchanges with many parking areas (at La Poterie - proximus to a motorway link road -, J.F. Kennedy, Triangle, Freville and Villejean-University).
