DESCRIPTION Malaga light metro system opened on July 2014 (Line 1: El Perchel-Andalucia Tech; Line 2: El Perchel-Palacio de los Deportes); it's articulated in 2 lines radiating from the city centre (El Perchel): Line 1 goes east (El Perchel)-west (Andalucia Tech), Line 2 goes north (El Perchel)-south/west(Palacio de los Deportes) parallel to the coast.
Malaga metro runs mostly underground; works are going on to extend the track in north-eastern direction (El Perchel-Guadalmedina-Atarazanes).
The two light metro lines connect each other many important urban polarities such as Ciudad de la Justicia, Palacio de Deportes, the main railway station (at El Perchel), the hospital (Clinico) and the university (Universidad).
