DESCRIPTION
Rouen transit network combines a north-south light metro line (the so-called Rouen Metro, mostly ground level in reserved lanes, with underground sections) to a modern trolleybus service (TEOR).
Rouen metro opened in 1994 (Boulingrin-Georges Braque/Hotel de Ville Sotteville) and it was extended in 1997 (Hotel de Ville Sotteville-Technopole). The metro system is constituded by 2 branches (Saint Sever-Technopole and Georges Braque-Saint Sever) that run separately south of River Seine; at Saint Sever they merge into an unique section up to Boulingrin terminal (north of River Seine). This common section presents a first underground stop south of River Seine (Joffre Mutualitè), then it crosses the river on an existing bridge; it proceedes underground in northern direction before emerging on surface just before Boulingrin terminal. Rouen metro serves some of the main urban polarities: Palais de Justice, Theatre des Arts, Technopole and Gare Rue Verte (railway station).
TEOR trolleybus system opened in 2001; it is articulated in 3 lines (T1, T2, T3) which share a common central section from Mont Riboudet to Saint Hilaire before branching in different directions. TEOR interchanges with the metro system at Boulingrin (T1) and Theatre des Arts (T1, T2, T3).
