DESCRIPTION
The first Frankfurt tram line opened in 1872; electrification took place in 1884. Starting from years '60s, the tram system was completed upgrading part of the network to premetro/Stadtbahn standards (combining ground level and underground sections); the first premetro section opened in 1968 ( Hauptwache-Nordweststadt) followed by many further extensions (in 1974, 1980, 1984, 1986, 1992, 1999, 2001, 2008, 2010). The current network consists in 10 tram lines and 9 premetro lines.
