DESCRIPTION
Ankara (Turkish capital) transit network combines a light metro line (Ankaray), full metro lines and a suburban railway system.
The light metro (Ankaray, built from 1992 to 1996) opened in 1996; it runs mostly in deep tunnel from Ankara Intercity Bus Terminal (ASTI-Ankara Sehirlerarasi Terminal Isletmesi) to Dikimevi.
The first line (M1) of the full metro system opened in 1997, running from Kizilay (in the city centre) to Batikent north-western suburb. The western extension Batikent-Torekent opened on Febrauary 2014; it's operated as Line M3. The south-eastern extension Kizalay-Koru opened on February 2014; it's operated as Line M2.
Line M4 (or Kecioren Metro) opened on May 2017; it runs from Ataturk Kultur Merkezi to Sehitler Gazino.
