DESCRIPTION An automated cable system line operated in Laon (France) from 1989 to August 2016 replacing a previous rack (1899-1971). The new system was definitely arrested and abandoned in 2016, due to the elevated maintenance costs.
The track (1,5 km, partly ground level and partly on existing viaducts and tunnels) ran from the historical city centre to the the new agglomeration located at different altitudes (maximum vertical gradient: 13%).
The service was operated by 3 vehicles (single capacity: 30 pax), with 2.5' headway peak.
