DESCRIPTION Charles de Gaulle (Paris Roissy) Airport is connected to the capital by RoissyRail line, which is also integrated to suburban and regional railway lines (RER, B). After the opening of the second terminal (1982), internal connections (temporally managed with buses) became crucial, so that in the early '90s it was started the construction of a modern automated cable system (SK). SK system (total cost: about 180 M Euro) was almost completely ultimated, but was abandoned after unsuccessful test runs in 1999.
After the abandoning of SK project, in 2001 it was decided to build (mostly along SK previous alignement) another APM system, the so-called CGDVal, that adopts the well-tried Siemens Matra Val technology.
2 CGDVal lines work since 2007 along the following routes:
- Line 1: terminal 1, internal parking areas, RER Gare and TGV Gare (terminal 3), terminal 2;
- Line 2 (also called Liaison Interne Satellite Aerogare or LISA): terminal 2E, satellite terminal S3, satellite terminal S4.
