DESCRIPTION
Prague metro system is articulated in 3 lines, with the typical eastern European scheme (3 radial lines forming a triangle in the city centre, with 3 interchange stops at the vertices); the decision in favor of a full metro instead of a premetro system was assumed only during the first phase of the construction works (years '60s).
The current Line C was the first to be opened in 1974 (Florenc-Kacerov) and it was extended in 1980 (Kacerov-Haje November), 1984 (Florenc-Nadrazi Holesovice), 2004 (Nadrazi Holesovice-Ladvi) and 2008: (Ladvi-Letnany).
The current Line A opened in 1978 (Dejvicka-Namesti Miru) and it was extended in 1980 (Namesti Miru-Zelivskeho), 1987 (Zelivskeho-Strasnicka), 1990 (Strasnicka-Skalka), 2006 (Skalka-Depo Hostivar) and 2015 (Dejvicka-Nemocnice Motol).
The current Line B was the last to be opened in 1985 (Florenc-Smichovske Nadrazia); it was extended in 1988 (Smichovske Nadrazi-Nove Butovice), 1990 (Florenc-Ceskomoravska), 1994 (Nove Butovice-Zlicin) and 1998 (Ceskomoravska-Cerny Most).
