DESCRIPTION
Liverpool metro (Merseyrail) is similar to the S-Bahn systems operating in many German cities; it is articulated in 2 separate lines (Northern and Wirral Lines), integrated by a local/suburban railway service (City Line). Northern and Wirral Lines are electrified and run undergroung separate from the other rail traffic, with a frequent service. The third line (City Line) is served by DMU trains, connecting the city centre to the eastern suburbs; City Line (differently from Northern and Wirral Lines) doesn't utilize any underground section.
