DESCRIPTION
Lisbon metro opened in years '50; it was modified, extended and upgraded many times. A crucial date was 1998 (the year of Lisbon Expo), when the network assumed the current asset, consisting in 4 lines (Blue Line: opened in 1959; Yellow Line: opened in 1959; Green Line: opened in 1972; Red Line: opened in 1998) that interchange at Marques de Pombal (Blue Line-Yellow Line), Campo Grande (Yellow Line-Green Line), Alameda (Red Line-Green Line) and Baixa-Chiado (Green Line-Blue Line). The most recent line (Red Line) was built before Expo '98 in order to connect Alameda to the exposition area. A southern extension (Alameda-Saldanha-Sao Sebastiao) opened on August 2009; other important extensions opened on July 2012 (Red Line: from Oriente stop to the Airport) and April 2016 (Blue Line: from Amadora Este to Reboleira).
