DESCRIPTION
Warsaw tram opened in 1866 (horse tram) and from that date it has been continuously in service; tram was totally electrified in 1908. The current tram network includes 28 ordinary tram lines, plus a fast LRT line (Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa/WKD).
WKD is a light rail line opened in 1925, which runs from east (Warszawa Srodmiescie, close to the Central Railway Station) to south/west connecting Warsaw city centre with its western metropolitan agglomerations (Michalowice, Pruszkow, Brwinow, Podkowa Lesna, Milanowek e Grodzisk Mazowiecki). WKD runs partly underground in the city centre (parallel to PKP rail tracks), then it procedees ground level to the western suburbs.
