DESCRIPTION
Sintra tram opened in 1904 (Sintra railway station-Praia das Macas); it was extended in 1930 (Praia das Macas-Azenhas do Mar). Starting from 1953 part of the route was reduced to a summer service (Sintra railway station-Praia das Macas); Praia das Macas-Azenhas do Mar tram section was closed in 1954. The whole line was finally closed in 1974.
Part of the former tram route was restored in 1980 (Praia das Macas-Banzao, operated as a summer service); the whole original tram line was totally restored in 1990.
