DESCRIPTION
Berlin tram network opened in 1865 (horse tram) and it was totally electrified in 1902.
Tram system reached its maximum extension in 1929 (89 lines, 634 km). Due to the "cold war", the system was splitted in 2 parts: in the western side most of the lines were closed or dismantled, while in the eastern part the complete elimination of the city's tram network wasn't considered. The current tram network consists in 22 lines.
