DESCRIPTION
Le Havre first tram opened in 1874 (initially with horse traction) and its electrification took place in 1894; this system had a remarkable growt, joining in 1913 a total lenght of 40 km (with more than 20 millions pax/year), before being gradually reduced and finally dismantled in 1951.
A modern tram network opened on December 2012; it's articultaed in 2 lines (Line A, Line B), with a characteristic "Y" shape. Its track starts nearby the coast, passing through the city centre (where it also runs through an underground section located between Rond-point and Place Jenner), before branching off Mont-Gaillard (west) and Caucriauville/Clinique (north-east).
Line A runs from Grand Hameau (norh-west) to La Plage (south-west); Line B runs from Caucriauville Prè Fleuri (east) to La Plage, sharing with Line A Jenner-La Plage common section. Tram serves many important urban polarities such as university, Palais de Justice, railway station (Gare SNFC) and Hotel de Ville.
